Dear Representative Waters
In the name of the poor and the oppressed people of my homeland Haiti, I gladly commend and congratulate you for your courageous and relentless support for democratic changes in Haiti.
I would like you to know that, thanks to your persistent intervention in favor of political prisoners who are languishing in Haiti's jails, as well as your constant protests against human rights violations of our journalists, political activists, and ordinary citizens of Haiti by Haitian authorities, many lives have been spared from systematic lynching by the many professional abusers of political power who have no respect for human lives. I want you to know that these watchful eyes of yours have refrained many of those bloodthirsty wolves in sheep clothing, from carrying out their sinister schemes of outright repression and intimidation, against unarmed innocent civilians, often in broad day light with impunity.
Even though too many of our Haitian political prisoners are still being kept behind bars without any coherent charge and despite the fact they're are still being denied their constitutional right to a fair trial , we must recognize the direct positive impact of progressive voices such as yours on their fate, by the mere fact that many of Haiti's political prisoners who could have been dead by tortures or mistreatment, are still alive today and are having stronger expectations to regain their freedom in a much closer tomorrow.
Once again congresswoman Waters, in unison with your courageous voice , we Haitians can all cry with a stronger voice now, to demand that the Haitian authorities and the Haitian Interim Government do the following before the second round of legislative elections:
-
Release all political prisoners!
-
Respect and protect the rights of all Haitian citizens to vote as they please!
-
We also demand that the representatives of the International Community presently in Haiti adhere to the following :
-
No more coups!
-
No more killings!
-
Respect the people's choice
-
We demand education, medical care and potable water for all Haitians!
Long live the Haitian people's struggle for real democracy!
Thank-you Congresswoman Waters for lending your voice to the millions of our voiceless Haitian men & women inside Haiti as well as the many underprivileged ones in the Haitian Diaspora.
Respectfully yours
Pierre Leroy

PS. We're currently gathering messages of solidarity in favor of the new democratic process in Haiti from sympathetic dignitaries and notables. The messages will be read to audiences at subsequent Haitian pro-democracy events throughout the US and Canada beginning at our March 25 forum in Woodstock, NY. We specifically encourage our US Congress representatives to do so as a way of showing support and helping us build stronger solidarity with the people of this country..
Please send solidarity messages to:
