Composition Credits
Rob grew up in Seattle playing piano since he was three, 'cello from age 7, and guitar at age 12. he picked up the bass in the 60's, and began working with groups in the Seattle Night Club Circuit including
St Michael's Alley - to which he composed a jazz tune called "St. Michael's March", as well as a number of Rock Tunes on piano and the guitar. When he moved to New York City in 1965, he joined a group in the West Village called 'The peepL' which got signed to Buddha Label on the basis of his (and his fellow songwriter's) material. One of Rob's songs, "Freedom", made the charts. The group later broke up (manager/producer squabbles), but one of the other player/singer/songwriters in that group later called Rob up 30 years later and said "Let's do it! Let's form a project band and finally document all our songs!" His name is Joseph M. De Jesus, singer songwriter composer extraordiaire. The two of them now have a CD Single out called "Passion Fire", a new beginning to what is sure to be a skyrocketing career for both of them. Meanwhile, back in the 70's, Rob was in another band with Joey called 'United Train', which was signed briefly to Atlantic based on their songwriting ability. But Rob wasn't just limited to songwriting. He has played 'cello since he was seven, and studied music theory at UCCC in the 70's. As a result, besides the over 100 songs he has written, he has composed a String Trio, a Piano & String Quartet, and also a full blown Rock Symphony for Symphony Orchestra & Rock Band!
Performance Abilities:
Rob has performed his original songs for the public in many different venues during and since the 60's, and has a unique style of singing and playing with effortless expertise that speaks of a mixture of years of experience coupled with human-ness and compassion. Rob has a unique style of strumming, combining Brazilian Rhythms, Samba, Tango and Calypso. Hints of influences like Jimmy Hendrix, Dylan, The Stones, Beatles, Tim Hardin, Sam Cook, Albert King, Bobby Blue Bland, Otis Redding, come out through the many different modes of his style, although he really doesn't sound like any of them, but definitely has a unique style all his own. His songs reflect deep spiritual message and sometimes political overtones, but are a mostly about love with it's many facets, and human-hood, or brotherly love, and the Golden Rule.
He makes the listener think about what is being sung in his lyrics, reflect on their own lives, and how they've been affected or how they've affected others. Rob's lyrics and melodies go straight to your heart, especially the love songs that he writes. He is definitely one of the world-class writers.
